THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE FESTIVAL OF SCIENCE AND CURIOUSITY

A two-week festival of events and programmes sharing the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths, and much more, across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

About the Festival

The Nottinghamshire Festival of Science and Curiosity has been running since 2015. Produced by Nottingham-based charity Ignite!, for two weeks every February, a wide range of scientists, researchers, engineers, creatives and inventors get out of the lab and go out and about into schools, libraries and community venues across Nottinghamshire where they spark moments of curiosity, wonder and inspiration amongst children, young people and their families.

The festival is about inviting the people of Nottinghamshire to share not only what they know, but also what they would like to know; it’s about celebrating curiosity, asking questions and taking a leading role in finding out the answers.

Testimonials

Wonderful to have something linked with science and careers for children - especially for girls

Parent

The activities were very engaging and the timings and pacing allowed everyone to engage with a variety of tasks. There was a good range of activities that the children would never have come across before, and the teachers heard some great scientific discussions taking place

Teacher

The children told lots of our volunteers how much they had enjoyed the workshops and activities. Hearing them excited to talk about all the science they had just learnt was incredibly rewarding.

Volunteer

Really glad we came, always a very enjoyable, fascinating experience

Parent

The children thoroughly enjoyed their investigation, having the opportunity to talk to engineers, ask them questions and be inspired.

Teacher

I had to make sure I was really familiar with the subject matter as some of the questions were unexpected! It was nice having questions that also challenged me to think.

We always come across things we hadn't previously thought about

Parent

I had wanted to give a family workshop a go for a while, and FOSAC presented the best chance to make that happen with a strong reputation that could help connect us with this audience we haven't previously targeted.
