Nottingham Speakers’ Club presents #ScienceSunday
17 February, 2019 | 11:45 am - 2:00 pm
£4

Join Nottingham Speakers’ Club for five speeches on Science and Curiosity, plus a special guest keynote presentation at Nottingham’s Canalhouse on Sunday 17 February 2019.
From Darwin (not that one) to genetics and the scientific roots of speaking, the Club welcomes you for a morning of short introductions to things you might not know.
Highlights include:
The Curious Darwin
Erasmus Darwin, described as ‘The Da Vinci of the Midlands’, is a man whose philosophical poetry has been called dangerously radical. Without him ‘On the Origin of Species’ – perhaps even ‘Frankenstein’ – would not have been written.
Window or Work?
Alexander Fleming and Thomas Midgley were both scientists who made lasting impacts on mankind. But both worked in different ways, and their work had tragically different outcomes.
The Human Code
Sarah Adamczyk looks at the structure of the not-so-secret code that makes us work – the human genome.
Plus special guest presenters to be announced!
£4 includes unlimited tea and coffee as well as pastries and croissants for breakfast. Because who can be curious on an empty stomach?!
This is the second event in Nottingham Speakers’ Club’s Sunday Speakers series, following our successful “One Gigayear at a Time” event in 2018. All are welcome!
