Plant Blindness Workshop: Meet with Matt Miller

Do plants sing?
Plant Blindness by Jason Singh is a unique and immersive sound installation in our unique Camelia House which uses naturally occurring ‘biodata’ from plants to create a musical score. Being a Musician and Artist, Jason has created a sound installation that uses the biodata from plants to raise the awareness of inaudible living organisms. The installation comprises four Camelia recordings, one from each bed and each approx. 30 minutes in length. Each recording will capture different “moods” of the plant throughout the day. As part of this free exhibition, Wollaton Hall is hosting a series of drop-in workshops to delve deeper into the world of plants and discover more about them through movement and sound.

Come take some time out to listen to the plants, hear what they are saying and think about what you might like to say back. Join poet Matt Miller in the Camelia House for this playful and imaginative writing session.

Accessibility

• Free Mobility parking (with Blue Badge) in main car park and near the entrance to Wollaton Hall
• Lift access to gallery floors and toilets
• A ‘Changing Places’ toilet and height-adjustable bench; we ask people to bring their own slings and register before use at the Courtyard Shop or Potting Shed.
  Accessible toilets are in the courtyard 9am-5pm and near the play park 5pm-8pm.
• Induction loop access across areas of the site.
• Tactile models of the park and hall in Lower Courtyard near the Potting Shed.
• Wheelchair access to the main hall. NOTE: Stairs feature on tour routes.
• Sensory experience in the formal garden.
• Manual wheelchairs available for use in hall and gardens. These can be collected from the hall and courtyard shop on arrival.
