Skateboarding in the City
15 February, 2020 | 11:00 am - 5:30 pm
FreeAfter the roaring success of their nine-day Skateboarding in the City Festival in June, Skate Nottingham brings you a whole day of activities exploring skateboarding and its role in community development, architecture and urban design.
Rad Young Minds
10am – 11.30am (Under 11s)
Use plasticine and cardboard to let your creativity go wild, creating shapes that can be rolled over on wheels, jumped over, slid across and enjoyed.
Skateboarding on Film and on Concrete
11.30am – 2pm (All ages)
Short film screenings, talks and discussions from skaters, designers, historians and architects about how the city, its built environment and its heritage is viewed in a unique way by skateboarders, and the potential for the future of Nottingham’s public spaces.
Life After The Banks
2pm – 4.30pm (Over 14s)
Work with international designers to customise plans for Sussex Street, footprint of the legendary Broadmarsh Banks skatespot (demolished in 2008), and part of the new Broadmarsh redevelopment. Design permanent and movable obstacles and architectural features in a wide range of materials and find out about the opportunities for local skaters to work in science, technology, engineering, construction, architecture and design careers.
